    QR Codes (Quick Response)

    Where is it used?

QR codes or two-dimensional codes are currently used in processes where it is necessary to transport a lot of information. They were widely adopted by Marketing campaigns since they allow redirecting to the URL of a website.

Subsequently, they grew in functionality until they were able to transport contact information such as a business card or store the configuration of a wireless network. Its success has been that it is an open standard, without charge for use and widely adopted in the scanners of mobile phones.

    History

In 1994, Denso Wave, created the QR Code in a subsidiary agency of Toyota. Its name comes from Quick Response, which means quick response, since the main objective was that it could be read quickly.

QR codes are very popular in the Asian continent where they are even used to make payments or money transfers.

Initially its use was restricted to the part of vehicle production, but with the exponential growth of smartphones and tablets it has become popular.
