The PLU Code is a number of 4 the 5 digit, used primarily in the marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables. Typically it will appear on a small label, which is applied to a single piece. The PLU Code identifies fruits and vegetables based on the product group, variety and size. These numbers are assigned by the International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS).
