    What is it Traceability?

Traceability under GS1 Mexico standards is that, through Bar Codes, you can have a record of where a product has been and where it will go in the different phases of its production. For example, with a Standardized Traceability can be identified in a piece of meat that is in the supermarket, which animal came exactly, what ranch and trace comes from.

Each company can have its own internal Traceability processes, however, having Standardized Traceability allows to effectively communicate to all the actors that intervene in the supply chain.

Having a Standardized Traceability system is essential for producers who want to export their products to North American and European markets.

Another use of Traceability is presented in the so-called Recall, namely, having the ability to identify where a batch of product is placed in order to be able to remove it from the reach of the consumer in case of a sanitary contingency. That is to say, when a risk factor is identified in a product to the consumer.

One of the clearest examples of this practice was in 2007, when a company dedicated to the production of toys had to withdraw near 83 types of toys contain lead in their manufacture.
